Cargo Rail Europe is the association representing important European rail freight customers, who are making major investments in this field – especially in sidings. Our members are the clients of the railway undertakings, forwarders, operators etc. and so Cargo Rail Europe stands for the real actors of the liberalized rail freight transport in Europe.

Crossrail AG has its headquarters in Muttenz, Basel (CH) and 2 subsidiaries in Italy, Crossrail Italia S.r.l. and Belgium, Crossrail Benelux NV which belongs with 75% to the investment company Le Jeune Capital & Partners SA, CH and 25% to the Intermodal operator Hupac SA, CH. Crossrail focuses on rail traction for trans-alpine rail transport (I, D, B, F, NL).

Duisport Rail is a public-utility railroad company established in April 2001. The 100% subsidiary of Duisburger Hafen AG is a perfect link in transportation chains. Duisport Rail offers container services and the transportation of bulk cargo such as coal, steel products and chemicals as well as exclusive links and railroad connections.

European Rail Shuttle B.V. (ERS) was established in 1994 with the aim to transport containers throughout Europe. Today, ERS operates an extensive rail shuttle network in Continental Europe with more than 250 train departures per week, interlinking Rotterdam and the German seaports with around 20 destinations.

Europorte, the Eurotunnel subsidiary dedicated to the development of international rail freight began operations at the end of November 2007. It is now responsible for freight train traction between Dollands Moor and Frethun, as well as ground operations for the latter.

FERRMED is a non-profit association set up by the private sector. It's aim is to enhance the European competitiveness by promoting the “FERRMED Standards”, the improvement of Ports and Airports connections with their respective hinterlands, the conception of Great Rail Freight Axis Scandinavia-Rhine-Rhone-Western Mediterranean, etc.

Since privatisation in 1996, the Freightliner Group has developed into the leading independent rail freight operator in the UK active in intermodal and bulk cargo transportation. Today, Freightliner carries up to 3,000 intermodal containers per day and runs over 1,200 heavy haul trains per week. It operates also in Poland and Germany. It was the first rail freight operator to win the HSBC Rail Business Awards, Train Operator of the Year in 2006.

Hector Rail AB is an independent line-haul provider, active in Scandinavia and Germany. Hector Rail currently operates about 10,000 train-kilometres each day. The company produces approximately 3.5 million train km / year in operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany.

Since its foundation in 1967, Hupac has become the leading intermodal transport operator through the Swiss Alps and one of the market leaders in Europe. The group comprises 10 companies based in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium. The company is owned by around 100 shareholders.

IGTL is the Polish Commercial Chamber of Land Transport. It represents all rail freight market actors, from railway undertakings to wagon keepers and more.

In 2000 LTE Logistik- und Transport- GmbH was founded by the partners Porr Infrastruktur GmbH and Graz-Köflacher Eisenbahn GmbH. In 2001, LTE received the concession for supplying rail transportations in goods- and passenger traffic on narrow- and standard gauge. LTE has 2 subsidiaries in Slovakia and in the Czech Republic.

Metallurgtrans Ltd is a one of the largest private rail freight operator with the fleet of more than 2000 wagons. The company provides rail freight services (forwarding, logistics, IT) and rail freight operations in Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, Germany.

MEV Eisenbahn-Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH with its registered office in Mannheim was founded in 1999. MEV has its own licence as a railway company for both cargo and passenger traffic, restricted to personnel, operational and engineering services. MEV offers a very broad range of rail-related services, from qualified railway operating staff for track-bound passenger and cargo traffic over training to the preparation and realisation of new and existing railway traffic as well as shunting and cargo-handling services.

The German association Netzwerk Privatbahnen (NP) represents the interests of private German rail freight operators as well as those of neighboring states. The members of NP generate a total of 75 % of the entire market share of all non-federal rail freight operators on the German network.

Rail Freight Group (RFG) was formed in 1991 to represent the views of those involved with the rail freight industry that were not British Rail. Today, RFG has over 150 member companies, ranging from customers, logistics providers, suppliers, terminal operators, ports and freight train operating companies.

Genesee & Wyoming (GWI) owns and operates short line and regional freight railroads in the US, CAN, AUS, NL. It performs contract coal loading and railcar switching for industrial customers and provides rail service at 15 ports in North America and, through its Rotterdam Rail Feeding subsidiary, in NL and B.

TOUAX RAIL Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of TOUAX Group, is an operating lessor of rail freight wagons in Europe (n° 2 Lessor with 8700 intermodal rail freight platforms) with offices in Ireland, France, and Romania.
Since December 2011, TOUAX RAIL is Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM) certified. TOUAX RAIL is
active in North America with CFCL-TOUAX.
TOUAX Group is also an operating lessor of shipping containers (> 500.000 TEU, n°1 in continental
Europe), modular buildings, and river barges. 

JSC Transachema was established in 1998 as a 100% subsidiary of Achemos grupe. The main activities of the company are transporting freight by railway, freight forwarding, the lease of transport vehicles, and the technical maintenance of rolling-stock. The company operates 5 locomotives and around 1000 private railway cars of various types.

Wascosa is a family-owned company founded in 1964 in Zug (CH). The company offers leasing and administration of railway rolling stock (tank and freight cars). It is certified according to ISO 9001 : 2000. Its service portfolio includes provision and maintenance of Swiss and foreign rolling stock, technical and commercial advice, purchase, conversion and disposal as well as acting as an agent.

Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo GmbH is operating block trains from Austria to several countries in Europe. Daily connections to harbours Rotterdam, Hamburg, Duisburg, Koper. Portfolio: container traffic (dedicated trains for our clients), paper, automotive, products of wood, steel, mineral oil and chemical products.

The Federation of  Independent Rail Operators (ZNPK) was established in June 2009. It is an association of managers of railway transport and logistical undertakings. Its aim is to promote the optimal model of the ownership structure of railway infrastructure and regulation of the rail market, promoting liberalization and increasing the competitiveness of rail freight market.
