
Ing Pierre Tonon

By exercising since 1973 his various duties and holding a range of different positions and mandates, Pierre Tonon has developed a comprehensive knowledge of private and public bodies (rail, energy, construction and environment). He served as well in industry and consulting engineering - as owner of a private consultancy – as in political cabinets.
Since 1986, he has been involved with the railway sector through various infrastructure and equipment projects with ACEC, TRANSURB CONSULT, BRC (Belgian Rail Consultants), TUC Rail (HST network in Belgium).
Since 2006, he held management and safety functions with the new entrant rail freight operators Rail4Chem (Germany) and Crossrail (Belgium) and with the General Contract of Use (GCU) for freight wagons (development of the first real time European freight wagons database).
From 2010 to 2011, he served as Head of Safety with SNCB Logistics SA/NV (safety certification, implementation of the safety plan). He had contacts with all private and public rail actors and covered all technical, regulatory and financial aspects.
Pierre Tonon is a Civil Engineer (mechanical & electrical). He graduated from the Faculty of Applied Sciences (University of Brussels) in 1971 and holds a certificate in executive business management from Solvay Business School (B).
He is Belgian and lives in Brussels. He was born in May 1947.
