Future challenges

ERFA aims to achieve the best conditions for a competitive railway sector.

THE VOICE FOR CHANGE IN THE RAIL SECTOR

WE REPRESENT THE VOICE FOR CHANGE IN THE RAIL SECTOR

New entrants bring much needed innovation and fresh blood to the rail sector. As the only association promoting full market opening and an equal playing field, ERFA actively promotes reforms of the rail market in favour of growth, jobs and sustainability.

A MARKET ORIENTATED DRIVER

WE ACT AS A MARKET ORIENTATED DRIVER

Customers do not choose rail on the basis of EU policy priorities, but on decisions based on performance and quality. ERFA, representing a large set of entrepreneurial railway companies, actively pushes for a business-orientated framework, improving the marketability of the rail sector.

ENFORCEMENT OF EU RULES

WE WORK ON THE PROPER, FULLY AND TIMELY ENFORCEMENT OF EU RULES

ERFA works closely with Regulatory Bodies and Competition authorities to ensure that EU legislation is fully, timely and properly enforced in Europe. The aim is to guarantee fair and non-discriminatory access to the market and to support a competitive rail sector.

TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT OF RAILWAYS

WE CONTRIBUTE TO THE TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT OF RAILWAYS

As a recognised body of the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA), including a seat on its Management Board, ERFA actively contributes to shaping an efficient Single European Railway Area, prioritising technical and regulatory issues that are cost – and discrimination – sensitive.

COLLABORATION AND DIALOGUE WITH OTHER STAKEHOLDERS

WE ENSURE A STRONG COLLABORATION AND DIALOGUE WITH OTHER STAKEHOLDERS

ERFA develops a strong collaboration with other European associations linked to the rail sector in order to enable changes and to promote a user-orientated rail market.
