BRC (Bulgarian Railway Company)
“BULGARIAN RAILWAY COMPANY” AD (BRC), has been founded in 2004 with 100% private capital. The company is part of the group S.C.GRAMPET S.A – Bucharest, Romania. In 2005 BRC starts its activity as a railway operator, receiving national licence for performing freight transport services on the railway infrastructure of Republic of Bulgaria, by the Ministry of Transport. Since 2007 the licence has a European status. BRC is specialized in the transportation of dangerous goods in accordance with the provisions of RID, and owns a certificate for Entity in charge of maintenance, a safety certificate as well as ISO 9001 certificate.
In 2005 Captrain Italia obtained the safety certificate and the license to operate as a railway company. In 15 years, Captrain Italia has grown and become the second national operator in freight transport in Italy and the largest newcomer in the Italian market.
During 2019 thanks to almost 500 colleagues, including train drivers and staff – we produced around 8,300 trains, for a total transport of almost 5 billion tons / km.
Customers for us are priority No° 1. We operate in Italy and as of 2021 in Austria and through our European network we are able to offer premium domestic and international rail freight solutions tailored to our customers’ needs.
Cargo Rail Europe represents companies in the shipping and logistic sectors, who transport goods by rail, truck, ship, pipeline and in all variations of combined transport and who make considerable investments in sidings, terminals, terminal facilities, trucks, freight wagons and traction. Our members are from Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Poland, Austria and France. Our members are the customers of the transporters (rail transport companies, forwarding companies, road hauliers, etc.) and therefore the real stakeholders in freight transport and modal shift policy. They are the ones who ultimately pay the costs and fees, such as the Swiss Heavy Vehicle Fee (LSVA) of more than 1,200 million € annually.

FerCargo is an association composed by twelve private Railway undertakings that operate in rail freight market. The companies are: Captrain Italia, Compagnia Ferroviaria Italiana, Crossrail, GTS Rail, Interporto Servizi Cargo, InRail, Nordcargo, OceanoGate Italia, Rail Italia, Rail Cargo Italia, Rail Traction Company and SBB Cargo Italia. FerCargo association was founded in January 2009. The companies members of FerCargo strongly support the railway liberalization process in Italy. FerCargo believes in entrepreneurship and efficiency as key elements for the recovery of higher rail share in freight transport. The association promotes all the initiatives able to develop rail freight in a free market environment.
Since privatisation in 1996, the Freightliner Group has developed into the leading independent rail freight operator in the UK active in intermodal and bulk cargo transportation. Today, Freightliner carries up to 3,000 intermodal containers per day and runs over 1,200 heavy haul trains per week. It operates also in Poland and Germany. It was the first rail freight operator to win the HSBC Rail Business Awards, Train Operator of the Year in 2006.
Gargzdu Gelezinkelis is a Lithuanian rail company, its offer is addressed to forwarders, shipping line agents and leasing companies. It provides railway transportation services in Lithuania. If offers transportation, loading and discharge services. Gargzdu Gelezinkelis is also active in the construction of railroads and maintenance services. Helrom is a company based in London, which provides intermodal train services on corridors connecting truck hub locations in Europe. They operate in Sweden. It owns rail wagons and rail terminal technology allowing the transport of all standard semi-trailers on rail.
Since its foundation in 1967, Hupac has become the leading intermodal transport operator through the Swiss Alps and one of the market leaders in Europe. The group comprises 10 companies based in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium. The company is owned by around 100 shareholders.
IGTL is a Polish self-government rail industry organisation founded in 1995. Association gathers over seventy companies operating in railway industry. There are three Industry Sections within IGTL: Railway Engineering Section comprised of construction and engineering companies, as well as suppliers; Railway Undertaking Section gathering freight and passenger carriers as well as infrastructure managers (sidings, shunting yards, regional infrastructure); Wagons and Forwarding Section associating wagon keepers, ECMs and workshops.
IGTL represents members toward state and European administration, as well as domestic and international organisations.
The organisation takes part in consultation process of law, regulation or strategy proposals, including European level (ministries/ government, NSA, RB, ERA, EC, etc.). IGTL is active in cooperation with national rail infrastructure manager as a representation body for the market (public procurement, criteria, supply chain, investment, as well as capacity allocation, operation, etc.). IGTL is also involved in administrative proceedings regarding capacity allocation and track access charges, as well as deals with issues of safety and rollingstock management or maintenance.
Lineas is the largest private rail freight operator in Europe with headquarters in Belgium and sites in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain.

In 2000 LTE Logistik- und Transport- GmbH was founded by the partners Porr Infrastruktur GmbH and Graz-Köflacher Eisenbahn GmbH. In 2001, LTE received the concession for supplying rail transportations in goods- and passenger traffic on narrow- and standard gauge. LTE has 2 subsidiaries in Slovakia and in the Czech Republic.
MEDWAY is a logistics operator and the largest private rail freight operator in the Iberian Peninsula, capable of offering integrated logistics solutions.
With a fleet of 69 locomotives (35 electric and 34 diesel) and 2,917 wagons, MEDWAY also manages several logistical terminals and a maintenance and repair area for railway equipment.

MEV Eisenbahn-Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH with its registered office in Mannheim was founded in 1999. MEV has its own licence as a railway company for both cargo and passenger traffic, restricted to personnel, operational and engineering services. MEV offers a very broad range of rail-related services, from qualified railway operating staff for track-bound passenger and cargo traffic over training to the preparation and realisation of new and existing railway traffic as well as shunting and cargo-handling services.
Netzwerk Europäischer Eisenbahnen e.V.
The German association Netzwerk Europäischer Eisenbahnen (NEE) represents the interests of private German rail freight operators as well as those of other European states. More than 50 NEE members are responsible for roughly 70% of all non-federal rail freight operators on the German network.

Rail Freight Group (RFG) was formed in 1991 to represent the views of those involved with the rail freight industry that were not British Rail. Today, RFG has over 150 member companies, ranging from customers, logistics providers, suppliers, terminal operators, ports and freight train operating companies.
TOUAX RAIL Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of TOUAX Group, is an operating lessor of rail freight wagons in Europe (n° 2 Lessor with 11.500 intermodal rail freight platforms) with offices in Ireland, France, Germany and India.

VTG Aktiengesellschaft is a leading global wagon hire and rail logistics company. ZESNAD association was founded in May 2016 in the town of Pruhonice. The Association aims at assisting in the development of rail transport in the Czech Republic
The Federation of Independent Rail Operators (ZNPK) was established in June 2009. It is an association of managers of railway transport and logistical undertakings. Its aim is to promote the optimal model of the ownership structure of railway infrastructure and regulation of the rail market, promoting liberalization and increasing the competitiveness of rail freight market.
